Westport have now won four on the trot after Sunday’s 16-8 win over Galwegians in the rain at Carrowholly.
Conor Hastings got the all important try after sustained forward pressure in the second half as they turned around a two point deficit to win.
Monivea remain unbreakable having secured their tenth win from as many outings at Corinthian Park on Sunday with a 14-9 triumph.
Tries from Rory O’Connor and Kevin Higgins helped them to an important win against a strong home side.
Ballina won for the first time in four games away to OLBC coming from behind with the elements after half time to win 10-7. Sam Johnson’s excellent try was key.
Loughrea’s hopes of survival suffered a blow at home to Tuam where a dogged battle was decided deep into injury time with a Dave Lally try for the visitors, who pull further clear of the bottom.
