The Draw for the Heineken Junior Cup (which was made Sunday evening) has pitted Galwegians at home to either Sligo or Gort and Castlebar at home to Monivea after Sunday’s action.
Castlebar caused the upset of the day winning 10-6 away to Westport thanks to a powerful forwards display in tough conditions.
David Staunton’s second try proved key as they overturned a 6-0 half time deficit and were the more dominant side throughout the second half. Semi Final Draw – Sunday February 24th

Galwegians v Sligo 2nds or Gort
Monivea beat Corinthians 15-10 in the early kick off on Sunday. The visitors had fancied their chances coming into this contest but tries from Bernard Ryan and Seamie Fahey proved enough for the league champions.
The reigning champions Galwegians withstood a strong challenge from OLBC at the Sportsground to emerge four point winners in the other quarter final. A second half penalty try proved key with the boot of Ross Shaughnessy helping them home despite four kicks from Dave Prior.
The encounter between Sligo 2nds and Gort was postponed due to an unplayable pitch.
Cup Draw: Castlebar will host Monivea in the semi final on Sunday February 24th while Galwegians will play either Sligo 2nds or Gort in the other semi final.

Soft semi final draws there for wegians and mona after tough quarter final matches ! They deserve the rest before the cup final I suppose. Always nice to see a few s**t teams get this far makes life easier for the teams that can play.

Your really gonna go on about them being unbeaten in a league of nobody’s ? If I recall correctly last year when ye had to play with the big boys ye didn’t win a single game ? Only team in Connacht to do that to I guess! Lets be honest here, mona by 20 plus and wegians by 30 plus.
Mona not that good this season, true we didnt win a game last year, but that was then and this is now. Dont forget the previous few seasons we made the top 4 every year and we will be back next year. I wouldnt say either that its a league of nobody’s, they go out every weekend and do thier best too just the same as any 1A side!

Would be great to see Mona beaten, might put an end to some of this potty mouth stuff on here about division 1b teams. Come on Castlebar. Was not surprised to see them beat westport, they have a very good forwards unit, and wouldnt be surprised if they turn mona over as well

They took a hiding I think ? But tbh a second division team really has no place trying to poke fun at a club top of 1A and playing in a competition ye can’t qualify for! Just not really a good image for your club. Not that anyone would notice what castlebar are at anyway!
You shouldn’t poke fun at lesser teams than mona, cause most club’s have a successful period, Mona’s happens to be now and people will remember how arrogant ye were in the future long after ye have stopped winning trophies.
Fair play to referee in the Castlebar/Westport game with the colours very similar.
porter you are obviously an ass who has no clue about what goes into fielding a team at any level your arrogance and ignorance is an embarrasment to your club.I play for a 1b team and i have also played at 1a level, inter pro youth and youth international and ail level and i can honestly say every level of rugby in this province is both competetive and enjoyable so just because you guys are on top at the min doesnt give you or any club the right to look down your noses at any other club.
Also while im at it i will point out the facilities and hospitality i and my teamates have recieved in places such as castlebar,creggs,ballyhaunis etc and it is a far cry from what a team will experience when they visit your shithole of a clubhouse!!! oh wait sorry ye dont even have a clubhouse do ye..

There is no way in hell ‘porter’ has anything to do with Monivea Rfc. just stirring shit. Every mona player knows that in a cup semi final anything can happen. We were turned over by castlebar only 3 or 4 years ago and we expect a tough hard battle again

Gort v Sligo is on in Ballyhaunis tomorrow night,Thursday at 8pm

If tuam are allowed to concede it will be ridiclous, because as far as i know ballinrobe want to concede their against dunmore and have not been allowed to. Game not going ahead this weekend though, why i don’t know
