Kanturk are the toast of Munster this weekend after they overcame holders and favourites Richmond in the final of the Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup at Corbally in Limerick on Saturday.
A last minute try from Mark Healy converted by Darragh Meade sent fans of the Turks at the home of St Mary’s RFC into raptures as they recorded their second win of the season over the league leaders and champions elect.
Richmond had fought back from the concession of an early Phillip Trippier try and had built up a 20-1 lead heading into the final quarter.
Richmond led 17-13 at half time with tries from Mikey Kelliher and Jeff McNamara and the boot of Brian Mullins had added the rest.
Kanturk pounded the line in those closing stages but looked to have missed their chance until Meade stepped up.

well done to kanturk today, a great team and club and a great bunch of decent, friendly fans, unlike enniscorthy.
a great shame they werent in the final it would have been a far better occasion
at the game today, a lot of scorthy fans left well before the end, kind of sums them up as a club really.
best of luck in the towns plate scorthy
Well done kanturk, deserved that win, build on it now hopefully
kanturk now undisputed best team in munster and we hope to prove the best in country after round robin playoffs.
Round robin for kanturk???
Round robin I don’t think so very good team but the best team will win the league
kanturk have proved they are the best team in munster not once but twice. facts are facts. two victories over richmond tells it all.
Kanturk I would say are the best team in munster after their win yesterday but Richmond have the best squad which is why they will win the league
congrats to Kanturk on the win, delighted for ye, much deserved.. As a Tullamore player our semi final was a much bigger occasion for us than the Final – good team, great support and top notch hospitality!!!
On behalf of the Tullamore Squad Well Done on the cup and its a pity we won’t meet ye in round robin
